The Cake Fairy Program

“Bigger smiles, brighter days and sweeter moments” - A Non-Profit Charity

Doesn’t every child deserve a cake on their birthday?  Doesn’t a struggling single mother deserve a way to celebrate the day with her little ones?  Shouldn’t a family that has been in the hospital for months during a loved one’s hard-fought recovery deserve an uplifting treat?  We here at Buttercream Bakery answer these questions with an emphatic yes. Every one deserves to feel special at least one day a year.

We were recently moved by an act of kindness from a customer; it brought tears to our eyes and made us think, “how can we help someone too?”

So in light of the emotions this arose, and thinking about it for a few weeks, we have decided to start a “charity” inspired by this one particular cake lover.

      Once a month we’ll donate a cake to a family that cannot provide a custom cake for someone they love. We know custom cakes are not a need, or not necessarily something that could change a life, but if we can put a smile in someone’s heart, it will make a world of difference to us, and hopefully create memories that will last a life time.

       Our plan is to take submissions from people who believe they know someone or are someone who is deserving; someone who could really benefit from a small act of kindness. It could be anyone from a family who has recently fell on hard times, to a child in foster care who can’t be with their loved ones on their special day.  Once an individual is selected, we will take any funds donated to the program and create a wonderful, sweet treat for them and their loved ones to enjoy.

       We’ll be accepting monthly submissions and donations for this cause.  One submission will be selected each month, with any collected proceeds going to the creation of this special cake.  In the event we receive a large amount of donations in a month, we will select more submissions and provide more cakes, so all proceeds will go to as many cakes as possible.  If you’d like to do either, they’re available right here on my website.  And if you’d like to stay anonymous, that’s fine too, just put “anonymous” in place of your name.  Please share a story with me, and the date you’d like to make special for someone. You can also include ideas for their cake, such as their interest, pictures or what flavors they love.  I promise to read each and every submission and choose with my heart.

      If your submission is chosen, you’ll be contacted for more information and an address for delivery, as well as a request for permission to add your story to our blog.  All blog posts will be anonymous unless otherwise requested.

- If you’d like to donate, or even fully pay for a cake for someone else, just click on the “click here to donate” link and you’ll be directed to PayPal donations.  If you’d like to make a submission, simply fill in the information in the “Reach Out!” section of the page; please be sure to add a story highlighting why the person or persons are in need of an uplifting treat, the date you’d like to make special for them, as well as any ideas for the cake, such as interests, pictures or favorite flavors.  Our goal through this charity is to make someone’s smile bigger, their day brighter and moments sweeter.
